About the course

The purpose of the Safety Oversight Course for Air Navigation Services (ANS) and Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems is to provide the training and practical experience required for CAA inspectors and ANS professionals to conduct safety oversight of both ANS and ATM systems. This course will follow all ICAO SARPs and national aviation regulations.

Participants will have a working knowledge of the fundamentals of safety oversight, such as planning for surveillance, carrying out inspections, writing up inspection reports, and using regulatory requirements in actual operating conditions. This course provides participants with both regulatory guidance and practical oversight examples that will help enhance State Safety Oversight capabilities and increase the effectiveness of ANS-ATM surveillance.

The instructor applies practical exercises, inspections scenario’s, case studies and report writing exercises in order to build on the participants ability to perform inspections. Participants utilize the information that has been provided to them throughout the course to complete actual regulatory oversight activities.
