About the course

A cyber incident can disrupt airport systems, airline operations, air navigation services, and passenger services. In aviation, the effects may extend beyond IT: teams must understand operational dependencies, assess potential safety impacts, coordinate decisions, and support a safe return to service.

This three-day course helps aviation professionals prepare for and manage cyber incidents that affect operations. Participants will examine how to recognise and assess an incident, coordinate across operational and technical teams, communicate with relevant stakeholders, and plan for recovery. Practical exercises will use aviation scenarios such as a passenger processing outage, disruption to airport systems, or loss of access to essential operational information.

The course focuses on aviation incident coordination and resilience. It is designed to complement an organisation’s technical cybersecurity procedures and response plans.

Key Topics

  • Aviation cyber risk and operational resilience
  • Digital dependencies across airports, airlines, and air navigation services
  • Critical systems, functions, and service dependencies
  • Cyber incident recognition, classification, and escalation
  • Assessing operational and potential safety impacts
  • Crisis roles and coordination between technical and operational teams
  • Business continuity and contingency arrangements
  • Communication with staff, passengers, authorities, and service providers
