Quality Management Systems for the CAA course provides a comprehensive introduction to quality concepts and their practical application within the aviation industry. It highlights the strong link between quality and safety. The course examines ICAO Annexes and SARPs that emphasize the need for effective quality and safety assurance. Moreover, it positions quality as a core management responsibility. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the definition, key elements, and objectives of a Quality Management System (QMS). There is a particular focus on the ISO 9000 family of standards and the ISO 9001:2015 QMS model.
The course also addresses current aviation quality requirements from an airline perspective. It takes into account European Regulation (EC) No 965/2012 on Air Operations and AS/EN 9100:2009. EASA, FAA, and IATA requirements are reviewed. In addition, best practices for integrating other management standards into a unified QMS are discussed. The program explores the relationship between quality and service, quality auditing principles, and practical models for quality management and customer service tailored for Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs) and Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs).
