Aviation operations rely heavily on digital systems and data integrity. Cyber threats now pose a direct risk to safety, continuity, and trust. This course equips aviation professionals with the knowledge to manage cyber risks effectively.
The course starts with cyber security awareness. Awareness remains the first and most effective defense against cybercrime. Participants learn how cybercriminals target aviation systems. They explore common attack methods and typical system vulnerabilities across airlines, airports, and service providers.
Through real case studies and expert demonstrations, participants gain practical insight into aviation cyber threats. They learn how attackers exploit weak points in IT infrastructure. The course then focuses on cyber risk assessment within an aviation business. Participants learn which questions to ask and which risks to prioritize.
Many organizations already protect individual systems. However, aviation needs a holistic approach across the entire IT ecosystem. This course addresses that gap. It helps organizations view cyber security as a management and governance issue, not only a technical one.
Participants work in teams and analyze recent cyber incidents. They observe live demonstrations of IT systems and vulnerabilities. These activities strengthen understanding and improve decision-making skills.
The course aligns with ICAO Annex 17, relevant international regulations, and the IATA Aviation Cyber Security Toolkit. It also introduces the principles of a Cyber Security Management System (CSMS) and shows how to implement them in daily operations.
By the end of the course, participants can identify cyber risks, assess threats, and support a structured cyber security framework. Successful participants receive an IATA Certificate and may apply the course toward the IATA Diploma in Aviation Security Management.
