Safety Oversight Inspectors (Air Navigation Service) course provides comprehensive training in the fundamental principles, regulatory requirements, and oversight mechanisms governing the safety of Air Navigation Services (ANS). The course focuses on developing the knowledge and practical competencies required to conduct effective ANS safety oversight. In addition, it helps participants assess service provider compliance and support the State’s aviation safety oversight responsibilities.
The programme provides participants with a structured understanding of the Global Air Traffic Management (ATM) Operational Concept and ICAO regulatory requirements. It also covers ANS service provider responsibilities and the role of the ANS safety oversight inspector.
Through practical exercises, case studies, regulatory assessments, and oversight scenarios, participants learn how to apply ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs). They also learn to apply applicable national civil aviation regulations to real-world ANS oversight activities.
Participants also develop the ability to assess ANS service providers and review safety management arrangements. In addition, they learn to identify operational safety risks, evaluate compliance, and strengthen oversight processes. The course addresses key areas including air traffic management, regional supplementary procedures, ATM procedures, service provider oversight, human factors, and State safety oversight responsibilities.
